Inner work insight.

jen louden laughingThanks to Jen Louden for introducing me to this wonderful program called the Enneagram Institute. It’s main focus is “dedicated to the work of human liberation and transformation.” It’s a great place to start learning about the features of your personality. Developing yourself isn’t easy, but it’s a lot more effective the more you know about yourself.

Since I signed up for their daily Ennea-thoughts, I get daily e-mails reminding me of what my personality is driven by (I’m a 3 with a 2 wing) and what I’m aiming for (a lasting, positive influence).

Just the other day, this note really stood out as the primary lesson of what I’ve been working on lately.

“Inner work insight; the more support we have for our inner work, the easier our process will be. We can seek out others who give encouragement and act as witnesses for our growth. We can find groups, attend workshops and put ourselves in situations that foster our real development.”

What I’ve learned lately is that not everyone is willing or able to be a witness. Those that aren’t don’t necessarily mean any heart on her sleeveharm. They’re just on a different path. Those that are deserve my full attention and gratitude, for they will enable me to grow through them, as I hope to help them grow in return. That’s where the harmony and synergy of life comes from.

The key is to not take any of this personally. When I focus on accepting people just as they are, I become more able to accept myself, as well. By aiming to be completely authentic, not perfect, but genuine, I can start to develop myself as a whole, integrated person, free from the interpretation of anyone else’s opinion.

“Personal freedom — the freedom to be who I really am, the freedom to do what I really want to do — is the greatest gift that I can give myself.”

kissy-faceThank you so much, my friendly blog reader, for being a witness. I greatly appreciate knowing you’re there, reading along while on your own path to self-exploration and development. It’s nice to know I’m not alone on this journey! I’ve also been very blessed to have people in my personal life who are supportive and encouraging, enabling me to talk openly about my hopes and dreams. They are worth their weight in gold and I’m actively trying to show them my appreciation and gratitude. *Thank you* :)

If you are interested in learning more about  your inner self and what drives you, go check out the Enneagram Institute and discover your personality type. It will be a very awakening experience!
