Glossary of terms

Today is Wednesday, which means it’s time for the Inspirational word of the day.

Since today is the first Wednesday of the new year, I thought it would be a good idea to review all of the words I wrote about last year, in this one post.

That way, anyone new to reading this blog will be all caught up and I’ll get a chance to see what I’ve already written about.

So here is the Glossary of terms from 2009.

Focus: (noun) a central point of attraction, attention or activity. (verb) to concentrate.

Faith: (noun) confidence or trust in a person or thing.

Support: (noun) a person or thing that serves as a support. (verb) to sustain, endure, hold up, assist.

Connectors: (noun) a person or thing that connects.

Autonomy: (noun) independence or freedom.

Audacity: (noun) boldness or daring.

Rectify: (verb) to put right, remedy, or correct.

Healing: (noun) the act or process of gaining health. (adjective) curing, mending, getting well.

Cultivate: (verb) to prepare, develop or refine.  to devote oneself to.

Fortify: (verb) to strengthen or protect. to increase the effectiveness of.

Prosperity: (noun) successful, thriving or flourishing condition.  good fortune.

Love: (noun) a profoundly tender, passionate affection for someone. (verb) to benefit greatly from.

Desire: (verb) to wish or long for. (noun) a longing or craving for something that brings satisfaction.

Resilience: (noun) the power or ability to return to the original form. the ability to recover.

Promote:  (verb) to help or encourage to exist or flourish.  to further.

Development: (verb) the act or process or growth. progress

Alacrity: (noun) cheerful willingness, liveliness.

Recognize: (noun) to identify, acknowledge or perceive as existing or true.

Gratitude: (noun) the quality or feeling of being grateful or thankful.

Unflappable: (adjective) persistently calm.  not easily upset or excited.

Determination: (noun) the act of coming to a decision or of fixing or settling a purpose.

Regroup: (verb) to become reorganized in order to make a fresh start.

Bittersweet: (adjective) pleasure mingled with pain or regret.

Equanimity: (noun) mental or emotional stability or composure, especially under tension.  calmness and serenity.
