The volunteers of the Ortonville DDA have been busy putting together the details of the 2013 Beets, Beats & Eats farmers market, as well as the newly expanded CreekFest. (CreekFest has been moved from the first Saturday in June to the last weekend and expanded to cover both Saturday the 29th from 10am til 4pm and Sunday the 30th from 12pm til 4pm)
The BB&E has only 3 nights that still need dinner vendors. Thanks to the Edna Burton Senior Center, Papa Bella’s Pizza, Cranberries Cafe in Goodrich, and the Sundance Grill in Metamora, 9 of our nights have dinner covered! I’ve contacted Dave from MacPhee’s in Ortonville, and fellow volunteer, Jill Stodola has contacted Phil from the High Street Eatery in Metamora to see if they’re interested. With only 8 weeks left, we’re doing our best to make sure everyone will have a dinner vendor to look forward to at the BB&E. The next BB&E meeting is scheduled for April 25th, 7pm @ the South street Fire Hall conference room.
As for the CreekFest event, we’re partnering with the Ortonville Historical Society to put together for the very first time, an Amos Orton look-a-like contest. I’ll add the details as they come later! We’re also blessed to have 2 men, Jason Gault & Randy Adam, who have stepped forward to help put together the parade for Saturday! I talked with Steve Hendershott about the CreekFest run and he said that he won’t be able to put it together because of the date change. If anyone else would like to champion this event, they are heartily invited to step up and make it happen!! The next CreekFest meeting is this Wednesday night the 10th at 6:30pm is at the Village Office in downtown Ortonville.
We’re still looking for vendors for both of these events. The BB&E is open to vendors of hand-made, locally produced goods, while CreekFest is open to anyone, including corporate vendors. Applications and market rules are available here.
