* Back-end issues, server errors and plug-in updates caused my website to go down for two days. Thanks to my Darling husband Blake’s tremendous skills and determination, my website is finally back up and running! And Thank You, my friendly blog reader, for your patience! *
My friend Lisa shared this fantastic video and wrote a blog post about it. (You can read it by clicking the link).
Wasn’t that incredible?!! I cry every time I watch it!
Although she set aside her dreams for decades to become a wife and mother, after her husband’s death, this beautiful lady, Paddy, took up salsa dancing and then went on to become the Guinness World Record book’s Oldest Acrobatic Salsa Dancer!
There are so many gems of inspiration in this lady’s story and Lisa did a great job writing about them. (Seriously, go read her post). The most inspiring thing I got out of watching this was you CAN have it all, but you just can’t have it all at once. Although Paddy put her dreams on hold while she was raising her family, her love for dancing never died. It simply lay dormant, waiting for the right time to come. After her husband passed, and she finally had time to follow her dream, her passion for dancing propelled her to greatness!
This made me take a really good look at my dreams and my family life. It made me realize that in order to have it all, to be a fully present wife and mother, author and speaker, I’m going to have to put some things on the back burner. Realizing I have a tendency to try to do too many things at once, my resolution for this year is to make a committed effort to do more to accomplish less in order to give myself space in which to grow my talents and dreams. That’s why, after next week’s 7 step to peaceful living class, I’ve decided to stop teaching the personal development classes. One of these days, after my son is out of school and my books are published, then I’ll think about starting them up again. In the meantime, I’m going focus on giving my family and my books the time and energy they deserve. I can have it all, I just can’t have it all at once. And that’s okay with me!
I hope this post has inspired you to look at your dreams and see where they fit in your life.
Where you inspired by Paddy’s story , my friendly blog reader? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below. xoxo Pam
