I’m so proud and happy for my friend Lisa Robbin Young! This weekend I had the absolute pleasure to watch her perform live at the U of M-Flint campus in the French Hall. She, and her band, the Damn Whippersnappers, did something really revolutionary. Not only were they playing for me and all of the other folks at the concert hall, they played to an international audience as well using Gigee.me. People from all around the world, including England and Canada, tuned in to enjoy the show! How cool is that?!! Lisa and the band performed at least 7 or 8 (honestly I didn’t count them) songs, two of which were original compositions by Lisa. Those were my personal favorites. Especially this one called PhotoShop me.
“I may not be perfect, but I am perfectly me!” Lisa Robbin Young
Oh! She really is and what an incredible gift she has to share! Wow! What a message and what a voice!
I wish I could accurately convey the feeling and emotion that was inside that concert hall on Saturday! I’d best describe it as passion, mixed with joy and and just enough fear to make it real and exciting. My friends Melissa and Jill and I absolutely LOVED being a part of it!
The band played for almost two hours, and we watched and listened to Lisa share true stories from her life in between the songs, including a story about standing up and singing on top of her toy box when she was three. Totally from the heart, this show wasn’t your typical concert performance. Lisa and the band even played a swing version of Paula Abdul’s pop hit “Straight up”, which personally, I liked better than the original!
After it was all said and done, my friends and I agreed that we were very, very impressed with the skill and ability of these the performers, and so happy to get to share in this experience with them. It’s really inspiring to watch people push past their fears to follow their passion. I’m looking forward to seeing much more from these talented folks!
Congratulations one more time to Lisa Robbin Young and the Damn Whippersnappers! Watching you share your talents with the world was a gift to everyone! Thank You for giving us the excitement of watching you chase after your dreams!!! Encore!
